Birdwatching in Corbett

Corbett National Park is like paradise for the people who are passionate about watching birds. The Corbett National Park is exceptionally rich in its Avifauna. According to a survey conducted by The Zoological Survey of India,there are about 600 birds species in Corbett. The Park consists of domestic as well as migratory birds,which includes a range of water birds and waterside birds.

Water-birds and Waterside-birds: The Water-birds and Waterside-birds comprises of both resident and migrant species. The commonly marked resident species such as Carmorants,the Darter,the Grey Heron,Egrets,the White-necked and Black-necked Storks etc. The migrant species include the Great Crested Grebe,Graylag Geese,White Storks,Black Storks,Sandpipers,Snipe,the Great Black-headed Gull,around 15 types of ducks and a variety of Wagtails.
Birds of Prey: Some of the birds of Prey include Crested Serpent Eagle,the Black winged Kite,the Indian Shikra,the Himalayan Gre-Headed Fishing Eagle.

Early in the morning or late in afternoon is the best time to watch the birds. Ramaganga river is very rewarding for water birds such as river lapwings,waders,mergansers and other waterfowl. Visiting the Corbett National Park,is a rewarding experience for the Birdwatchers.
